To mark her retirement as NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales stalwart, Pam Chilman was presented with a framed painting. The image is of her home bred first prize Kerry Hill ram lamb, painted from a photograph taken back in the late 1990s at the main sale
Champions from Sunday
The champion Charollais at the NSA Wales & Border pre sale show is from the Roblestone Flock, Haverfordwest, bred by RG & RA Jones & Sons. Gareth Jones said the tup had been the first prize yearling at this year’s Royal Welsh Show. He is sired by Logie Durno Barbarian.
Smithfield Tractors provides NSA ‘Tup Taxi’ opportunity for Local Youngster
A young school leaver from a non farming background has the opportunity to run a Tup Taxi at the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale on Monday. And it’s all thanks to sale sponsor, Smithfield Tractors. The Llanelwedd based firm has provided Rafi Watling, with the necessary bike and trailer.
BTV Latest Rules
NSA members in England with sheep entered for the NSA Wales & Border Main Ram Sale at Builth Wells on Monday 22nd September are reminded that sheep from the all England Restricted Zone (RZ) cannot cross the Welsh border until after 12 noon on Sunday 21st September according to the updated Wales bluetongue (btv) regulations.
The Trailer of Truth
Farmers to Action will be bringing a Trailer of Truth to the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale. The trailer will be escorted onto the Royal Welsh Showground from 10.30 on the morning of Monday 22nd September.

New Welsh Government Rules on Vaccination
The WG rules have been updated today (22nd August) and it is only sheep coming from a English holding that need to be BTV vaccinated. We have tried to be as re-active as possible to all the rule changes and keep everyone informed and this is a great move forward.
Vaccination Update
Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate for BTV is the message the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale is impressing on flockmasters. The deadline is imminent for those who haven’t yet vaccinated in time for the main sale, to be held at the Royal Welsh Showground on 22nd September.
Entry Closing Date Extended
The closing date for entries to the NSA Wales & Border Main Sale has been extended to Friday 8th August.
Sheep Sale Stalwart
Sale stalwart Charles Marwood will be bringing his rams to the Brecon early sale organized by the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales committee. His Foulrice shearling took the top price of 3,800 guineas at the Early Sale two years ago and he feels that, while the alternative sale in Hereford is a welcome option for many, his ‘happy place’ is Wales.
Brecon & Hereford Sales
With an entry of more than 210 rams at Brecon on Monday 4th, followed by 64 rams in Hereford on Tuesday 5th, prospects are looking good for two successful sales.

There will be plenty of choice for buyers in England and Wales at the NSA Wales & Border Early Sales. Vendors have responded with a range of top quality rams entered for sale at the Brecon sale on 4th August and at Hereford on 5th August.
