Early NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale
The Early Sale of rams by the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales will take place at Brecon on Monday 3 rd August. There are 189 tups entered for sale and breeds include pedigree Texel, Charollais and Berrichon, as well as MV Suffolks and Cross Breds to follow the non-MV Suffolks, Texel and Charollais.
The sale is important for early lamb producers and traditionally a trailblazer for the tup selling season. Last year’s early sale at Brecon achieved a top price of 3,500 guineas for a Charollais shearling ram. The event had to be split across two days, in Brecon and then Hereford, to best cope with bluetongue restrictions. The first sale in Brecon grossed £118,282.50, with 70.26% sold. The second early sale in Hereford was held as a service to vendors from England in the light of current bluetongue restrictions, with a top price of 1250 guineas for a Beltex x Charollais yearling from VJ & ML Roots.
