Suffolk improvements at the NSA Wales & Border Main Sale

There will be more opportunity to select MV accredited Suffolk rams at the NSA Wales & Border Ram Main Sale this year. The organizers have agreed measures to improve the experience for both buyers and vendors.

The move follows a meeting with the western area branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society. It has been agreed that Lyndon Trumper from J Straker Chadwick auctioneers will now start selling the MVA Suffolk rams before the MVA ram lambs. The rams in this ring will be birth notified with the Suffolk Sheep Society and eligible for registration. It will give vendors more choice to sell the yearling rams either in this ring if they are MVA or sell with another auctioneer, as they do now with McCartneys in the Non MVA Ring. This choice is also geared to accommodate
the increasing number of buyers who want to buy an MVA ram. The initiative will help relieve pressure in the non MVA ring. Numbers permitting the Suffolk MVA ring will move to Hall 2, adjacent to the wall, with the non MVA Suffolks in Hall 3, also adjacent to the wall.

The Western area branch, which covers Wales and bordering counties, together with the southwest of England has welcomed the move. The branch will organise a show on the Monday morning in the sheep ring, weather permitting.
