Early Choice for Tupping

The NSA Wales and Border Early Ram Sale will take place this year on Monday 5th August at the Royal Welsh Showground.

The sale has established itself as the venue of choice for early lambing flocks wanting the pick of rams ready for tupping. It traditionally sets the price for top quality, healthy, assured rams.

Executive Director, Jane Smith, said uncertain times meant it was more important than ever to invest in quality stock. There would be a choice from 500 plus tups across five or six of the major early lambing breeds.

She added: “In times of uncertainty, it’s important to keep investing in the best stock. Quality always pays for itself and whatever the economic and political climate may be, if you have good quality stock it will always sell.

“The NSA Wales & Border Early Ram Sale provides a unique opportunity to buy early in a brisk selling day and then to be able to take your choice home and quarantine him before putting him out to work.”

She added that the online entry form is now a much valued feature of the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales website. It, together with the online catalogue and gallery of pictures, are all designed to make the buying and selling process as smooth as possible.

Last year’s Early Sale saw high prices achieved for top tups. The headline price of 2,800 guineas for a Corriecravie Texel shearling was a fitting 65th birthday present for Paul Johnson!
