Important notice for NSA Builth ram sale vendors from England and Scottish buyers

NSA members in England with sheep entered for the NSA Wales & Border Main Ram Sale at Builth Wells on Monday 22nd September are reminded that sheep from the all England Restricted Zone (RZ) cannot cross the Welsh border until after 12 noon on Sunday 21st September according to the updated Wales bluetongue (btv) regulations.

All vendors travelling from England will be required to have completed the normal movements document (LIS-1 09/23), and the vaccination declaration as provided by the NSA ram sale organisers, and in addition must have observed the conditions laid out under the general BTV movements licence (EXD661(W).  This licence does not need to be carried but is available to complete and download on the website from this evening (Friday 19th September) for use from 21st September. The general Licence and information on its use will be available here. It will outline the conditions and needs to be observed not carried.

Unfortunately, NSA has been informed that Scottish Government has failed to get legal agreement for post movement testing – so any buyers wanting to move rams that have come from the RZ, to Scotland will now need to find a way to pre movement test them before crossing the Scottish border and may need to plan temporary sheep accommodation. The Scottish general licence will be available from Sunday 21st September also and can be found by clicking here.
